Parisian artist Guillaume Mary's work explores the problematic nature of memory, that is of the gap between formal accuracy and the subjective nature of perception.
Transcribing a landscape, condensing it to its most fundamental physical features, while at the same time providing an ever so slight a glimpse into his inner world of past experience represents the central challenge in his art.
The artist makes subtle compositions which transpose, in the most authentic way possible, past impressions into concrete pictorial matter and sometimes into wood.
Formal execution undergoes a sort of process of visual sedimentation during which Guillaume Mary meditates the essential nature of places that have made a lasting impression.
